Giorgi Mtchedlishvili was born in 1991 in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. He began his formal musical training at the esteemed Z. Paliashvili Central Music School, graduating in 2012. He subsequently pursued higher education at the Vano Sarajishvili State Conservatory in Tbilisi, where he was awarded merit-based scholarships in 2015 and 2016. He completed his master’s degree in vocal performance in 2018, during which time he actively appeared in concerts and operatic productions across Georgia, developing a strong presence on the national stage.From 2018 to 2022, Mtchedlishvili was a member of the prestigious International Opera Studio at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, where he was also a scholarship recipient of the Liz Mohn Culture and Music Foundation.During his time there, he performed roles such as Monterone in Verdi’s Rigoletto, the Murderer in Macbeth, and the Baritone in Claude Vivier’s avant-garde opera Kopernikus.His earlier career featured acclaimed performances across Georgia and Europe, including Escamillo in Carmen at the Tbilisi Z. Paliashvili State Opera and Ballet Theatre, Jago in Verdi’s Otello at both the Narodni Divadlo Brno and the Thurn und Taxis Schlossfestspiele in Regensburg, Marcello in Puccini’s La Bohème, Count Almaviva in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Figaro in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, Belcore in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Paolo Albiani in Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra, and The Mandarin in Turandot.
